Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking an experienced AML Analyst to join its London team on a permanent basis.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AML Analyst to join the firm's AML team and play a key role in supporting the firm's client and matter onboarding processes.

Working closely with the AML team, Office of General Counsel and wider business services functions, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting client due diligence, assessing risk and ensuring compliance with the firm's AML policies, controls and procedures. The role will also involve regular interaction with fee earners, Partners, the Billing team and other internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing client, matter and third-party payer due diligence checks
  • Investigating complex control and ownership structures and identifying ultimate beneficial owners
  • Conducting independent research and reviewing CDD documentation to assess client and third-party payer risk
  • Carrying out source of wealth and source of funds checks using internal and external databases
  • Identifying and assessing high-risk factors, including sanctions, PEPs, jurisdictions and industry risks
  • Completing client, matter and third-party payer risk assessments in line with the firm's AML policies and procedures
  • Taking proactive ownership of low to medium-risk files and applying CDD clearance with minimal supervision
  • Escalating relevant matters and providing internal reporting to the MLRO
  • Assisting with ongoing client monitoring and periodic reviews
  • Maintaining accurate AML records and refreshing historic data where required
  • Working closely with the Billing team on billing queries, including client account and third-party payer scenarios
  • Responding to queries from fee earners, Partners, business support teams and law enforcement agencies where required
  • Working collaboratively with the wider AML and Office of General Counsel teams on departmental projects and initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the firm's AML policies, controls and procedures, as well as relevant legislation, regulation and guidance

Requirements

  • At least two years' experience within an AML team at a law firm
  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of client due diligence and AML processes within a legal environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with Partners and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with a high degree of initiative
  • High level of professionalism, discretion and integrity
  • Advanced IT skills, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and iManage
