The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Lawyer to join the firm's established Risk and Compliance function, sitting within the General Counsel team. The role will provide exposure to a broad range of legal risk, commercial, regulatory and compliance matters, working closely with the General Counsel and senior stakeholders across the business.
This is a highly visible position offering the opportunity to act as a trusted legal advisor, contribute to strategic projects and play an active role in the ongoing development of the wider team, with a clear opportunity for career progression.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing commercially focused legal guidance on a broad range of internal business matters, helping stakeholders identify and manage potential legal risks
- Advising on contractual arrangements and supporting the business with the negotiation, review and development of commercial terms
- Working alongside internal teams to address emerging risks associated with data protection, technology and evolving business practices
- Helping the firm maintain robust governance and compliance standards by identifying areas for improvement and recommending practical solutions
- Contributing to strategic business initiatives and projects, offering legal input on new developments and changes across the wider group
- Keeping abreast of changes in legislation and regulation, translating developments into practical guidance for the business
- Promoting a strong risk-aware culture through knowledge sharing, training and the development of internal guidance
- Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while supporting the development and knowledge sharing of colleagues within the wider team
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with relevant compliance experience, ideally gained within a Risk and Compliance team at a UK law firm, financial institution or regulator
- Strong understanding of legal risk, commercial contracts and regulatory compliance
- Experience advising on data protection and technology risk matters would be advantageous
- Experience using Intapp and knowledge of conflicts of interest would be highly desirable
- Excellent drafting, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders
- A commercially minded, proactive and pragmatic approach, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
