Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Deputy Head of Risk to join its Risk Management team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

The firm offers the opportunity to work alongside senior leadership within a well-established Risk function, playing a key role in maintaining the firm's regulatory and financial crime compliance framework.
The Opportunity
This is a senior specialist role responsible for overseeing the firm's AML and financial crime processes, providing expert guidance on complex regulatory matters and acting as a trusted advisor to Partners and senior stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the firm's day-to-day AML and financial crime processes, acting as the senior escalation point for the Business Acceptance team
- Advising Partners and fee earners on complex AML, sanctions and financial crime matters
- Supporting the MLRO with regulatory issues and liaising with law enforcement agencies, including the National Crime Agency, where required
- Leading and supporting the firm's annual AML Risk Assessment and Independent AML Audit
- Monitoring developments in AML legislation, sanctions and regulatory requirements, ensuring policies and procedures remain up to date
- Delivering guidance, training and technical support to the Business Acceptance team
- Advising on SRA conflicts matters and liaising with the firm's US Conflicts team where appropriate
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the UK and international offices, providing commercially focused risk advice
This Deputy Head of Risk position is a full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent.
Requirements
- Significant experience within a law firm or professional services Risk, AML, Financial Crime or Business Acceptance function
- Strong technical knowledge of UK AML legislation, financial crime regulations and sanctions
