The Firm
Our client, a growing law firm, is looking to hire an experienced Legal Cashier to provide vital support to their Finance Director and legal teams in their busy London Accounts Department.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Cashier to join a well-organised and dynamic finance team. This role involves undertaking a wide range of legal accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment.
As a Legal Cashier, you will be responsible for a number of essential duties, including:
- Daily bank reconciliations for both client and office accounts
- Processing BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, and international transfers
- Monitoring client accounts, checking receipts, and notifying fee earners
- Posting transactions to the case management system
- Managing office receipts and payments, including client-to-office transfers
- Ensuring all transactions comply with firm policies and the Solicitors' Accounts Rules (SARs)
- Processing bills and uploading disbursement records
- Assisting with aged debt management
- Resolving account queries and liaising with fee earners on ledger balances
The role is London-based with a hybrid working model of 2-3 days per week in the office per week.
Requirements
- 3 / 4 years' experience in legal accounts
- Solid understanding of Solicitors' Accounts Rules (SARs) and VAT regulations
- Knowledge of AML regulations
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly under high volumes and tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- Experience with all essential duties listed above, including bank reconciliations, processing payments, and monitoring accounts
Desirable (Not Essential): Experience with the PracticeEvolve case management system or knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
