The Firm
Our client, a well-established and growing UK law firm, is looking for a Head of Finance. The firm operates across several locations and provides a full range of legal services, with a strong emphasis on quality client service, operational efficiency, and sound financial management.
The Opportunity
The firm is seeking a Head of Finance to take full ownership of the finance function, reporting directly to the Managing Partner. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial management, ensuring strong control, compliance, and commercial insight across the business. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the firm's finance function
- Producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis
- Providing financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to partners
- Overseeing financial controls, compliance, VAT, payroll, and year-end audit processes
- Managing WIP, debtor performance, and overall cash flow
- Acting as COFA and ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Overseeing legal cashiering, including client account management and reconciliations
- Reviewing and authorising financial transactions, maintaining regulatory standards
- Supporting the transition from an outsourced finance model to a fully in-house function
- Contributing to pricing, profitability analysis, and wider business planning initiatives
This Head of Finance position is a full time, permanent role, working Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 5:30pm
Requirements
- At least 4 years previous Legal PA / Executive Assistant experience within a law firm
- Experience supporting a Head of Department within a law firm (essential)
