The Firm
Our client is a well-regarded Top 100 City law firm with a strong reputation across several practice areas. With a collaborative culture and consistent year-on-year growth, the firm is known for its supportive working environment and high-performing business services teams. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Cashier to join the Accounts & Finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave.
The Opportunity
This is a key role within the Legal Cashiering function, providing essential support in managing client and matter accounts while ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR). The successful Legal Cashier will play an important part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the wider finance team during busy cyclical periods, including month-end and audit processes. Key responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring client account balances and transactions comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Preparing client fee ledgers and reconciling balances
  • Posting disbursements, including counsel and expert fees
  • Processing and inputting client receipts
  • Monitoring and logging any breaches in accordance with accounts protocols
  • Supporting month-end, year-end and audit processes
  • Contributing to process improvements within the cashiering function
  • Undertaking additional ad-hoc cashiering duties as required
This role offers excellent exposure within a busy finance team and the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the wider firm.
Requirements
  • Ideally a minimum of four years' Legal Cashiering experience within a law firm
  • Strong working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Solid understanding of accounting, banking and matter management systems
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Confident communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
