The Firm
Our client is a respected, multi-service law firm recognised by the Legal 500 and Chambers UK for their commitment to access to justice. They are seeking an experienced Crime Billing Administrator to join their expanding criminal billing team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Opportunity
The successful Crime Billing Administrator will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely billing across all criminal defence matters handled by the firm's nationwide offices. Working closely with both the billing and accounts teams, you will provide comprehensive administrative and billing support to help maintain the firm's high operational standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing magistrates' court legal aid billing, including standard fees, limits and designated/undesignated areas
- Drafting and submitting CRM7 claims via the LAA portal (SILAS)
- Using the case management system (P4W/TIKIT) (desirable but not essential)
- Preparing non-standard fee claims (CRM7), including enhanced rates and assessment bundles
- Drafting appeals to assessments
- Liaising with offsite costs draftspeople, allocating claims and tracking progress
- Applying knowledge across areas such as extradition and ASBPCA breaches (County Court and S.38s)
- Providing general administrative support to the billing team, maintaining accuracy and meeting tight deadlines
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, with hybrid working available following training.
Requirements
- Proven experience in magistrates' court legal aid billing (essential)
- Experience in an administrative role within a law firm
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience with P4W/TIKIT case management systems (desirable)
