The Firm

Our client is a leading London based Law Firm known for handling high value and complex litigation.

The Opportunity

This is a wide-ranging job that involves a combination of legal, financial, data, and risk analysis techniques. The role requires an appetite for developing new solutions to evolving cost and funding issues.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performing critical risk and financial analysis on all conditional and contingent fee cases at the outset and as they progress
  • Undertaking and actively monitoring cost estimates and budgeting using costs management software
  • Assisting matter teams to compile documentation for submissions to the Risk & Funding committees (e.g., fee & outcomes projections)
  • Ensuring draft Conditional Fee Agreements (CFAs) and Damages-Based Agreements (DBAs) are approved before dispatching to the client , and that they are subsequently signed
  • Liaising with matter teams and After The Event (ATE) insurers/brokers to issue and administer ATE policies, including facilitating audits
  • Extracting data from systems and spreadsheets to produce reports on cost and funding issues
  • Making recommendations to improve or create internal Costs & Funding workflows or processes, including leveraging technology

Requirements

  • Previous experience in legal costs, accountancy (bookkeeping/financial data), economics, or insurance
  • Commitment to working in litigation costs and funding as a career option
  • Technical competency with Excel to an intermediate/advanced level, including comfort with pivot tables, graphs, and formulae (IFS, SUMIFS, LOOKUPS, etc)
  • Highly numerate and methodical when undertaking data analysis, comfortable with data interpretation
  • A problem-solver who can approach challenges logically and propose solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when liaising with matter teams and senior stakeholders
  • Experience of the Interaction CRM, Cosine, and Elite 3E Practice Management Systems would be advantageous

  • Hours: Permanent, full-time.
  • Hybrid Working: Up to 2 days per week from home.
